Unusually the total population of Nishigo village has been growing year by year, and it became the third largest-population village in Japan.  What is the main reason behind?

 

With some advantages such as JR Shinkansen station (New Shirakawa) and Tohoku Highway Interchange available within the village, more people are moving to live at the village, including those who are working in Tokyo city and take JR Shinkansen train every day.

 

 

1. The Basic Information on "Nishigo Village" :

 

- The Total Area:  192.06 km2

- The Population: 20,366 persons (as of 2016)

- The Density of Population:  106 persons / km2

- The Railway:  There is a JR train station, "Shin-Shirakawa", within the village, which is one of JR Tohoku Shinkansen Line as well as JR Tohoku Line. 

- The Main Roads:  One Interchange, "Shirakawa IC" of Tohoku Highways within the village.  One National Road, #4 & $289 are available in the village.

- The Bus:  There are several highway bus services available at Nishigo bus stop on Tohoku Highway.  

- The Airport:  The nearest airport is Fukushima Airport in 45-min drive from the village  (about 45 km)
